All That Jazz!

I first became interested in jazz music when I was in my early teens. I had already fallen in love with the music of Frank Sinatra years before, but names such as Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday were -very sadly- not familiar to me.

It all started when I was in the musical Kiss Me, Kate! and looked up some of the songs, only to find versions of them sung by the one and only Ella Fitzgerald. After hearing “From This Moment On”, I was a goner. Within a couple of months, I had become familiar with many famous jazz vocalists from the mid 20th century as well as several jazz standards.

I plan to do a series in which I choose a jazz song of the day and tell a little bit about it. Stay tuned!
